The Canadian War Amps (CWA) are celebrating the 75th anniversary of their Key Tag Program.
This year’s theme is “You Are a Part of What We Do” which aims to celebrate everyone who helps make the program successful.
Jaime Lunn, CWA Public Awareness Officer says “The program often leads to people donating to our organization which enables us to operate our programs that help amputees around the country.”
The Key Tag program works by sending out small tags you can attach to a keychain, in the event you lose your keys whoever finds them can contact CWA who will then use their database to help coordinate a return.
The program is free to join and key tags for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick are being sent out during the first week of February.
The program is designed to raise awareness for CWA and generate interest and donations for their various programs like The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program.
The CHAMP Program provides amputee children with funding to help purchase artificial limbs which can often be very expensive.
“In addition to CHAMP, we help amputees of all ages, including former servicemen and servicewomen,” Lunn says. “It’s not just helping them buy artificial limbs, we often help with the red tape that affects amputees trying to obtain them.”
There is still time to register for the program which can be done through the CWA website.
