Talk Bridgewater was a quarterly event before the pandemic but up until last week, the events had to be put on hold.
The event is designed to allow residents to meet face-to-face with local government officials to ask questions and raise concerns.
Last Friday, Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell, Councilor Jennifer McDonald, and Councilor Andrew Tanner returned to the South Shore Centre for the first Talk Bridgewater event in a year.
The event was held in accordance with physical distancing protocols in place and all the participants and hosts were required to wear masks (As is everyone inside the South Shore Centre).
Mayor Mitchell says that didn’t stop the event from achieving its goals, “It’s been great we’ve had people in and out throughout the day bringing things to our attention and asking questions.”
He also noted that he and many of the councilors have been eager to get out in the community and interact more directly with their constituents.
The town hopes to get back to hosting these events more regularly, “With the budget season fast approaching I’ve spoken to some other councilors about doing this again in March in April but we still have to iron that out,” Mitchell said.
