The Exhibition Association of Nova Scotia (EANS) says traditional exhibitions and fairs won’t be held this summer due to COVID-19.
It’s the second consecutive summer the exhibition schedule will look much different and another big blow to rural communities that depend on the events to generate revenue and tourism.
In Bridgewater, thousands of people attend The Big Ex each year and many use it as an opportunity to come home if they are working away.
In a release, the association indicates their decision does not mean smaller events can’t go ahead in communities as long as they meet all health and safety protocols.
EANS says planning is underway for these types of events and announcements will be made in the near future.
