The Municipality of Chester will once again be recognizing the best businesses in various categories as part of the annual Best of Chester Awards.
The nomination period opened this week, allowing people to nominate businesses in 23 categories. As a resident of the municipality, you can nominate businesses through the Best of Chester website.
Community Economic Development Officer Heather Hennigar says the awards are very sought after by businesses across the municipality.
“People are eager to be called the best and it also gives the businesses in our community an opportunity to get some extra publicity,” Hennigar said.
The categories aim to include all types of businesses that operate in the municipality and include awards for the Best Artisanal Retailer to the Best Vendor at a farm market.
“Our local businesses have had quite an unusual year,” says Warden Allen Webber. “We need to show them our support and recognize the contributions and opportunities that they bring to our communities, especially now.”
The nomination period opened on March 22 and will end on April 5. Once the nominations are in the top three in each category will be selected and then a public voting period from April 12 to May 3 will determine the winners.
In previous years there has been an award ceremony, however with the COVID-19 pandemic still looming this year awards will be delivered individually to the winners.
