An upcoming Hike Nova Scotia course in Mahone Bay will teach the necessary skills to become a certified hiking group leader.
The Field Leader Hiking Course which is being held in partnership with the Outdoor Council of Canada is being held from 9am-5pm, May 15th and 16th.
Janet Barlow, Executive Director for Hike Nova Scotia said the course teaches important group and risk management skills.
“If something does go wrong you’ve got this situation but you’ve also got this group of people you need to take care of,” said Barlow.
She said that anyone can register for the course, although it is best suited to those who already have hiking experience.
Those who successfully complete the course will receive Outdoor Council of Canada Field Leader – Hiking certification.
