One of the province’s former premiers has died.
Donald Cameron was 74.
Tory leader Tim Houston confirmed Cameron’s passing in a media statement.
Houston says members of Cameron’s PC government introduced pioneering human rights legislation that called for equal rights for gay and lesbian people.
Cameron, who represented Pictou-East in the legislature, became the province’s 22nd premier in 1991, serving until John Savage and the Liberals won the 1993 election.
He was appointed consul general in Boston one month later.
