A Liverpool museum is set to open it’s doors after being closed for 6 years.
Perkins House, which was built in 1766 by Simeon Perkins provides a look at what life was like during that period in time.
The Museum has been closed since 2014 to undergo extensive upgrades and restoration.
Queens County Museum Director, Linda Rafuse said the community has be anxiously awaiting its reopening.
“The whole community, even people from away who grew up here as kids, every now and then they do a check in, ‘how’s Perkins house coming along? Is Perkins house open yet? Will it be open this year?'” said Rafuse.
She explained that the house has been a museum since 1967 and has been enjoyed by many generations.
Refuse said she’s excited for things to finally return to normal at Perkins House.
“We will feel so much better when the girls open up the doors and we are able to welcome everyone back,” said Rafuse.
She added that the museum was supposed to reopen sooner, but those plans came to a halt due to the third wave of the pandemic.
Rafuse expects the museum to be open to the public around July 12th.
