The provincial party leaders continuing to pound the pavement over the weekend and make several campaign promises along the way.
Leader Iain Rankin said a re-elected Liberal government would increase funding for fire departments in rural communities during a stop in Mount Uniacke on Sunday.
He said they would support the federal government’s initiative to include fire stations under the newly named “Canada Community-Building Fund Program,” which was previously known as the Gas Tax Fund.
The changes to the program allow municipalities to send funding to rural fire departments to help cover the costs of maintaining basic infrastructure.
