Susan Corkum-Greek was elected in the riding of Lunenburg by a margin of 634 votes and she’s pleased the campaign and election are now over.
She says she was not overly surprised by the strong performance from the PCs who won a majority of the province’s seats. She said, “Based on what I heard on doorsteps surrounding the health care crisis and the positive responses I heard about our plan I think the election showed just how concerned our citizens with the health care situation,”.
Corkum-Greek is hopeful the PCs can start implementing their health care plan quickly which she says is aided by the fact that the plan was laid out in such detail throughout the campaign and the fact that the PCs have a majority.
She also offered her congratulations to the other candidates in the riding of Lunenburg and she says the campaign was very civil throughout.
With the election now wrapped up, Corkum-Greek says she can now focus on the issues closest to her constituents, “Now we can take off our party jerseys and get back into the community and really listen and work on the problems being faced right here in Lunenburg,”.
Prior to the election Corkum-Greek also says she made it very clear to Premier Elect Tim Houston that her first commitment is to her constituents, then to the PC Party, indicating she won’t be afraid to champion issues her constituents face whether or not they align with PC Party intrests.
She intends to be a very responsive MLA and she says she welcomes constituents calling her or emailing her with any concerns they might have.
With the election wrapping up on Wednesday morning Corkum-Greek says there has been no indication on when Tim Houston plans to name his cabinet.
