Shelburne MLA Nolan Young (contributed)
Nolan Young will be the next MLA for Shelburne.
The Progressive Conservative won the riding, raking in 62% of the vote.
Young discussed how his experience as a former councillor and deputy mayor for the Town of Shelburne will help him as MLA.
“It was really good to understand how politics work and how government takes place at that smaller level,” says Young. “It’s a good way to transition into the provincial.”
An instructor at NSCC, Young discussed the possibility of serving the incoming PC government’s cabinet.
“That’s something I would be open to,” says Young. “I have experience working with community colleges and through the apprenticeship programs. I’m open to anything at this point.”
He says he spoke with over 2,600 residents and healthcare emerged as a major concern. He says he will work hard to put the PC party’s healthcare plans in place.
