The Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce will be putting on a debate for the candidates running in the riding of South Shore- St Margarets.
Debate organizer Dan Hennessey says they’ve spoken with candidates from the Liberal, Conservative, and Green parties who all have expressed interest in attending.
Hennesey says they will be reaching out to all candidates that are running locally and extending an invitation.
It appears as though there are currently five candidates running in the riding, though the Elections Canada website doesn’t list anyone as currently registered. That is not unusual though as candidates often file their applications closer to the deadline which is August 30.
From the beginning of the election, we have known who will represent the Liberals and Conservatives with Bernadette Jordan and Rick Perkins representing those parties respectively.
Over the weekend signs began popping up from the other three candidates from the Green, PPC, and NDP candidates.
Representing the Green Party is Thomas Trappenburg who is a founding member of the party and also formerly led the Nova Scotia Green Party.
Carrying the NDP banner is Olivia Dorey who has worked in recent years with policy groups and the government.
The PPC candidate is Sean Thomas who little is known about but we have reached out to the PPC campaign office for more information.
The debate is scheduled for September 7th at 7:00 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Hotel. Seating is limited so anyone wishing to attend should RSVP through the Chamber’s webpage as soon as possible.
