Kien Fudge can now claim to be the best high school golfer in Nova Scotia after claiming the NSSAF Individual Provincial Championship this week.
On Monday, Osprey Ridge hosted the provincial championship which saw the top male and female golfers descend on the South Shore.
Fudge is a grade 11 student who just recently enrolled at Park View Education Centre. His coach Grant Johnston says Fudge grew up in Vietnam with his father Ken who is originally from the Bridgewater area. Fudge spent his summers on the South Shore, but until this year he had always returned to Vietnam in the fall for school.
Johnston says that Fudge has quickly adapted to things at his new school and he is now well and truly a member of the Parkview community.
At just 16 years old Fudge is already demonstrating his abilities as a top golfer and as he is only in grade 11 he will have a chance to defend his title next year.
“He’s had a golf club in his hand since he was four, he’s quite an impressive individual, very humble and I think his future is very bright,” Johnston said.
Through the front nine Fudge racked up six birdies, he ran into some trouble on the back nine and finished one over par which was just enough to claim the provincial title.
As for the team results, the PVEC boys finished 6th while the PVEC girls finished 7th.
