The South Shore Lumberjacks didn’t have the ideal weekend but with one win and one loss in their weekend games, they are now in second place in the MHL Eastlink South Division.
On Friday, the Jacks dropped their first game of the season with a loss to the Truro Bearcats. It was a close game with it being tied 3-3 as things went into the third period. Truro’s Luke Munroe scored the go-ahead goal for the Bearcats in the third.
That win propelled the Bearcats to the top spot in the MHL Eastlink South Division with six points. The Jacks also have six points after the weekend action however they have played one more game leaving them second in the division.
Saturday night the Jacks laid down a marker against their rivals from Yarmouth. The Jacks defeated the Mariners in Yarmouth 6-1. Eli Reimer netted two goals and got two assists for the Jacks and Riley Spiers netted another two goals for the Jacks.
The Jacks were dropped from the Top 20 CJHL teams list as a result of the weekend’s performance after being ranked 12th in the previous rankings.
Riley Spiers was named as an MHL Player of the Week for his performances last week.
The Jacks have a bust week ahead with three road games. On Thursday they head to PEI to take on the Summerside Capitals, on Friday they head to New Brunswick to play the Fredricton Red Wings, they wrap up their road trip with their second matchup in Yarmouth of the season as they look to make it two wins in a row against the Mariners.
