The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge in outdoor dining due to public health restrictions and to recognize the surge in popularity the popular dinner reservation app OpenTable released a list of the 100 best outdoor dining experiences in Canada.
Beach Pea Kitchen & Bar in Lunenburg made the list and it may come as a surprise to many that it was the only Nova Scotian restaurant to make the list.
Beach Pea is a small restaurant and their website describes their experience as featuring “Breathtaking water views highlight a simple, elegant dining room that features a bright, airy, and inviting space perfect for intimate gatherings and meals with family and friends.”
Many Maritimers may be surprised with the list overall. With the region being known for its picturesque small towns and oceanfront views only two restaurants in the Maritime provinces made the list.
The other maritime restaurant on the list is PEI’s Clam Diggers Beach House & Restaurant.
The list seemed to heavily favour Ontario with 66 of the entries coming from there, while British Columbia has 22. Three provinces had no entries on the list with New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Manitoba all missing out.
