The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure are closing the Indian Path Bridge (Bayport Bridge) in East LaHave on Tuesday, December 7, as they begin work to replace the aging bridge.
Work preparing the bridge for replacement has been ongoing throughout the summer and at times the bridge was reduced to one lane but on Tuesday it will be fully shut down.
Whilst work is ongoing traffic will be detoured along Indian Path Road, which adds approximately twenty minutes to the drive.
Some SSRCE school buses use the bridge currently and as a result of the closure, parents have been notified to expect later drop-off times.
The detour has a five-tonne limit, which should only cause issues for commercial vehicles as even the heaviest personal vehicles rarely top two tonnes.
