Students will be learning from home next week so that work the province can install better ventilation systems in 70 schools.
Eight of the schools set for upgrades are part of the South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE).
SSRCE Executive Director Paul Ash says they are glad the work is being done as it will help make everyone feel safer when they return to class.
Ash says the schools selected for upgrades were ones that relied on natural ventilation, they include;
- Hebbville Elementary
- New Ross
- Newcombville
- Pentz
- Petite Riveier
- Big Tancook Elementary
- New Germany Elementary
- North Queens
In addition to ventilation upgrades, the province says they are also using the week of online learning to bolster PPE supplies at schools.
While PPE shortages may be an issue for schools in other parts of the province, Ash says all SSRCE properties have been well-stocked throughout the pandemic.
