Production of the Disney+ series Washington Black moves to Lunenburg next week and the shooting schedule was just released.
In an effort to make the filming as unintrusive as possible the production company behind the series sent out a letter to residents this week advising them of what will be going on.
Filming is scheduled to begin in Lunenburg on May 2, and wrap up at the end of the month, though the production company says those dates are subject to change.
In some cases, they anticipate the filming to have an impact on traffic and the production company provided a list of shoots that may do so;
- Bluenose Dr (May 2,6, 3-11, 16-24)
- Fox St (May 3)
- Golf Course Rd (May 3)
- Stonehurst East (May 12-13)
It is expected shooting beyond this is likely to take place but the production company isn’t anticipating they will cause any major disruptions.
The series is based on Esi Edugyan’s novel that tells the story of Washington Black, an 11-year-old slave who escapes from a sugar plantation in Barbados.
The series is set to feature Sterling K. Brown as the escaped slave’s mentor. Brown is best known for his role as Randall Pearson in NBC’s “This Is Us”.
