Two years ago today Nova Scotia lost Captain Jenn Casey in a Snowbirds plane crash.
The tutor jet went down shortly after taking off in Kamloops, B.C. on May 17th, 2020. The crash also injured Captain Richard MacDougall of New Brunswick.
The Snowbirds had been taking part in a cross-country tour called “Operation Inspiration” aimed at lifting the spirits of Canadians during the pandemic.
In a Tweet on Tuesday, the team says they miss Casey and remember her passion and determination every day.
“Jenn – you left us two years ago today, but your passion, your determination and the energy you brought to our mission powers us every day. We miss you, and we will remember you,” the Tweet says.

The 35-year-old Halifax native had been working as a public affairs officer at the time.
Following the crash, the aerobatics team was grounded for more than three months.
The investigation into the incident determined a small bird flew into the plane’s engine shortly after take-off from the Kamloops airport.
That caused the plane to lose power, forcing the pair to abandon the aircraft.
The report determined they were at too low of a height to safely deploy their parachutes.
The Royal Canadian Airforce says Casey will always remain in their thoughts.
