
The latest round of funding from the Atlantic Candian Opportunities Agency’s Tourism Relief Fund (TRF) will see nearly $1 million invested in five tourism operators in Southwest Nova Scotia.
Launched in July 2021, the TRF was created to help organizations and businesses in the tourism sector adapt their operations to meet public health requirements, offer innovative products and services to visitors and prepare to welcome back travelers.

The biggest recipient is Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa who will receive a $500,000 repayable investment to upgrade its HVAC and air circulation systems. The upgrades are expected to make the resort more comfortable in the winter months, thus extending the tourism season and associated spending spinoffs.
The second project which will receive $349,551 (repayable) will go towards the construction of d two new vacation cabins made from
wood harvested and processed in Nova Scotia. The cabins will be solar-powered and the hot water will be solar-heated for a 100 % off-grid, energy-efficient tourism experience
The other three recipients received funds that are not expected to be repaid and include; Upper Clements Park, Deep Sky Observatory and La Cuisine Robicheau.
The $17,000 going to Upper Clements will be used to install heat pumps in seven cottages for year-round comfort. As well Wi-fi will be upgraded and an electric vehicle charging station will be installed to support sustainable travel.
The observatory receiving $13,299, will purchase two larger telescopes, an improved projector and sound system, and zero gravity chairs to increase outdoor seating capacity. They also have plans to increase the accessibility of the facility.
La Cuisine Robicheau, a restaurant in Saulnierville will receive $77,000 to repurpose two shipping containers on its seaside property for accommodations and another for an electrical and utility station for guests and employees.
