The Liverpool Privateers got their season underway exactly as they hoped, winning their home opener against the Sackville Blazer 5-2.
The Privateers struck quick and early and were up 4-1 after twenty minutes thanks to a pair of goals from Brayden Aucoin and single markers from last year’s rookie of the year Daniel Kline and Carson Gallant. Veteran Jude Greenwood scored Liverpool’s final goal in the final period.
Ryan MacDonald tallied in the opening period for the Blazers and Daniel Surette in the third period.
Riley Hurlburt and Chris Meredith each collected two assists for the Privateers.
Liverpool outshot Sackville 45-31 and will play a pair of road games this weekend in Windsor Friday night against the Valley Maple Leafs at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoon in Brookfield against the Elks.
