Osprey Village will soon become home to Nova Scotia’s first Lumia Health Collaborative Health Centre and MODL’s Community Hub.
Lumia Health is led and delivered by Partners for Care, an independent, board-governed non-profit service partner of Nova Scotia Health (NSH) which collaborates with wellness-oriented businesses that complement NSH’s healthcare services and contributes to positive patient experiences.
Their plans for Osprey Village, which is situated just outside of Bridgewater will see them build a 45,000-square-foot facility that will house the MODL Community Hub along with various medical clinics.
Before construction begins Lumia wants to secure two-thirds of its tenants, and the MODL space takes up about one-third of the building’s footprint.
The Community Hub is expected to include things like a farmers’ market, community kitchen, cold storage, education and meeting spaces, and a café. Tenants are expected to include a pharmacy and other health-related businesses such as physiotherapists, oxygen therapy, dietitian services hearing therapy, and more.
“We are very excited about this partnership and see it as a wonderful way to combine community space with like-minded tenant partners committed to helping patients on their health journey,” said Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson.
When the MODL initially looked into building a Community Hub back in the summer they listened to a proposal from Colliers International who at the time pitched a stand-alone building that would exclusively house the Community Hub.
Council made no commitments to that project at the time and this announcement indicates Council has opted to go in another direction.
Mayor Bolivar-Getson also noted that the planning is still in the early stages and the MODL still needs to allocate funds that will be used to set up the Community Hub.
As far as the other tenants go there are many types of medical services that could occupy the various suites, in a release from the MODL it noted that a pharmacy was already identified as one thing the facility really wants to have. Tenants are expected to include a pharmacy and other health-related businesses such as physiotherapists, oxygen therapy, dietitian services hearing therapy, and more.
Lumia Health Collaborative Health Centre and the Community Hub will be situated in Osprey Village at the intersection of Nathan Cirillo Road and Allée Champlain Drive, across from the Stonemont Retirement Lifestyle Community.
