RCMP are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Saturday afternoon that claimed the lives of two Eskasoni residents.
First responders were called to the scene of an accident o Highway 4, near East Bay shortly after 4:00 p.m.
Upon arriving they discovered a transport truck had collided with a SUV. Both occupants of the SUV sustained life threating injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital where they were both pronounced dead.
RCMP say the driver was 80 years old and the passenger was 24 years old, but their names have not been released.
The Mounties also noted that at the time of the accident, weather conditions were poor and may have been a factor in the collision.
The driver of the transport truck was not injured.
