Bridgewaters’ Luke Woodworth will be sporting the “C” the next time he takes the ice for the Drummondville Voltigeurs after the QMJHL franchise named him as their newest captain on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old was selected by the Volts in the first round of the 2020 QMJHL Draft, selecting him with the 11th overall pick.
He impressed his coaches in Drummondville early, getting regular power-play minutes in his first season. Ever since he’s been thriving with the team netting 121 points in his 145 games played.
In an interview with Volts in-house media Woodworth explained his reaction to the news.
My first reaction was just being very honored to be named captain. To go through the list of past captains of this great organization, it was a special feeling to be a part of that.
Woodworth is expected to don the “C” for the first time on Sunday afternoon when Drummondville hosts the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
