If your plastic containers (Tupperware or knockoff) have stubborn stains from whatever you stored in them, I have two great tips for making them clean again!
The original kitchen cleaning hack was to add dish soap, hot water, a piece of paper towel and put the lid back on.
Then shake for up to one minute.
I tried that and it didn’t work on tomato sauce.
Turns out those reddish stains are lycopene which is hydrophobic, meaning it doesn’t react well to water and will cling to plastic.
So, you need one more ingredient.
Take a stick of butter, rub it around the edges of the stains, add dish soap, some hot water and the paper towel.
Snap on the lid and shake for a minute.
The stain should be gone.
