For many of us, it’s a long weekend coming up – the Victoria Day long weekend.
We’re the only country in the world that celebrates this, thanks to an Act Of Parliament after the Queen’s passing in 1901.
Even the British don’t celebrate Victoria Day.
I’ve noticed that the younger folks rarely call this Victoria Day anymore.
They refer to it as the May 2-4 weekend, the May long weekend but seldom Victoria Day.
Fun fact: Queen Victoria never visited Canada, although her children all did.
What do you call this upcoming long weekend?
