BRIDGEWATER, NS – The Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) has laid a charge following an incident that occurred outside a local establishment in the early hours of Sunday, June 11, 2023.
According to multiple 911 calls received at approximately 12:15 a.m., an assault took place near Firkinstein Brewing on King Street in Bridgewater.
Upon receiving the reports, police officers and paramedics promptly responded to the scene. They discovered a 36-year-old male victim who had sustained head injuries during the altercation. The injured individual was immediately transported to South Shore Regional Hospital for medical treatment. Due to the severity of his condition, he was subsequently transferred to the QEII hospital in Halifax, where he currently remains in critical condition.
Law enforcement authorities later apprehended a 45-year-old male, from Bridgewater, in connection with the incident. He was arrested later in the morning and now faces a charge of aggravated assault.
Following his arrest, the suspect was released by a Justice of the Peace. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on July 26, 2023, where he will enter his plea regarding the charges brought against him.
The Bridgewater Police Service continues its investigation into the assault, seeking further evidence and conducting interviews with potential witnesses. Authorities urge anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
