A lake in Kings County is off limits to swimmers.
Blue-Green algae has been reported at Methals Lake near Kentville.
The toxins in some algae can make people sick and can be fatal for pets if ingested.
According to Nova Scotia’s Department of Environment and Climate Change, blue-green algae is not normally visible in the water.
The department says blue-green algae develops when hot, dry weather is followed by heavy rain, and has become more common due to climate change.
