Our Athlete of the Week is 12-year-old Layne Crowell of Barrington
Sports Organization: Hockey, Soccer and Baseball
His Mom writes:
I have nominated my son Layne because of his constant determination to improve his skills in whatever sport he is participating in. He has a strong will to improve himself to be the best he can be. He has a true passion for hockey, but also likes to take part in summer sports like soccer and baseball.
He takes advantage of every opportunity to get extra ice time as well as attend hockey camps and when he can’t be on the ice, he is shooting pucks at home or playing street hockey.
In the summer he is always wanting to go to the batting cage or the ballfield to improve himself.
This past hockey season he had the opportunity to go on the ice with younger players and assist with teaching/showing them different hockey skills and he took this position very seriously and felt very proud to be able to share some of his skating knowledge with younger players.
I just want him to know all of his hard work and determination is being acknowledged and we are very proud of him and this nomination is the best way to show him.
