Nova Scotia’s South Shore communities are showing resilience and unity as they recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Lee. In an effort to assist residents grappling with power outages and the challenges brought by the storm, Comfort Centres have been established in both Queens and Lunenburg Counties, offering essential support during these trying times.
Queens County Comfort Centres:
The Region of Queens Municipality, in collaboration with local fire departments and community organizations, has set up Comfort Centres with a primary focus on aiding residents without power. These Centres offer a range of crucial services, including device and equipment charging stations, temperature control, and light snacks. The following Comfort Centres are currently open today, with updated hours:
- Greenfield & District Fire Fighters Association
- Location: 4960 Medway River Road, Greenfield
- Hours: September 18 – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Mill Village & District Fire Department
- Location: 39 Medway River Road, Mill Village
- Hours: September 18 – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- North Queens Fire Association
- Location: 9793 Highway 8, Caledonia
- Hours: September 18 – Open 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
- Port Medway Fire Department
- Location: 66 Long Cove Road, Port Medway
- Hours: September 18 – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Additionally, the Queens Place Emera Centre at 50 Queens Place Drive, Liverpool, will be providing services such as device charging and showers from 9:15 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through September 21. To reserve a shower time, residents can call 902-354-4422.
Lunenburg County Comfort Centres:
In Lunenburg County, several Comfort Centres have also been established to assist local residents affected by Hurricane Lee:

- Riverport & District Fire Department
