For the first time, Michelin will be opening its doors to the wider community for their celebrations of International Women’s Day(IWD).
“Normally we celebrate in-house, sharing stories of women in the workforce and the impact they have in our community, but this year we wanted to invite people from the community we work in,” said Bridgewater Plant Manager Rita Caissie. “As one of the larger employers in the region, we have a role to play empowering women, particularly in the workforce,”.
Caissie will be joined by other local women leaders who she hopes will help inspire the next generation of women from the South Shore, “Take me for example, I’m a female plant manager so I feel I have a role to play and can inspire women that no matter where they come from if they have a goal and set their mind to it they can achieve it,”.
To that end, Michelin is hosting an IWD event at their Social Club located just outside of its Bridgewater factory on Friday, March 8, running from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., which is open to the public.
The event will feature keynote speakers, as well as games and activities with prizes to be won. Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP by email.
Should the event prove successful Caissie says it’s possible it could become an annual tradition.
