Forest Heights Community School in Chester was evacuated around 10:00 a.m., Wednesday morning in response to a bomb threat.
Police have since responded and deemed there was no credible threat, and have allowed students to return to class.
According to sources, a bomb threat was written in one of the school’s bathrooms, which matches similar incidents that occurred over the past two days in schools around Halifax.
Forest Heights Principal Alicia Lovett sent out a message to parents following the incident, in which she expressed the seriousness of the situation.
Families, I am following up to let you know that police have advised that school routines can continue as usual today. Thank you for your continued patience; this has been very disruptive to the school day. As you know, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority – and all potential threats are taken seriously. Please remind your children that in addition to any police consequences, those who endanger the well-being of others, damage property or significantly disrupt the learning environment will receive immediate and appropriate consequences for their actions, as per the Provincial School Code of Conduct Policy. Thank you for your understanding. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Students were told they could leave school while the evacuation was taking place with parental permission, so many did. Other students have since returned to class for the day.
