Nova Scotia is going to be hot and humid from Tuesday to Friday due to a high-pressure system sitting south of the province.
“What that’s going to do is pump in warm air from the west and southwest,” said Environment Canada Meteorologist Ian Hubbard. “We’ll see the temperatures keep rising throughout the week peaking on Wednesday and Thursday.”
Temperatures in most parts of the province have a chance of reaching the low thirties on Wednesday and the humidity will have it feeling even hotter.
The highest current projection is for Halifax on Thursday, where with humidity temperatures will feel like 38 degrees.
Heat warnings have already been issued for much of Western Nova Scotia including these counties: Annapolis, Digby, Kings, Lunenburg, Shelburne, Queens and Yarmouth.
Hubbard expects the rest of the province will be under heat warnings when they are updated on Tuesday.
When issued you should take precautions like staying out of direct sunlight and staying hydrated. Pets should also not be left outside for long periods.
On Friday Hubbard says a cold front should start bringing some cooler temperatures to the maritime region at which point we will see some respite.
Once it arrives temperatures are expected to drop back into the high teens or low twenties for next weekend.
