LUNENBURG, NS – In an exciting announcement from The Lunenburg Barnacle, in partnership with the Town of Lunenburg, it has been revealed that a Special Election All-Candidates Debate will take place at the Lunenburg Fire Hall at the end of July. This event aims to provide an opportunity for the mayoral candidates to present their platforms and engage with the public. Additionally, if a councillor election is also underway, the councillor candidates will also be invited to have a debate of their own.
So far two candidates have indicated they will be running for mayor- Jamie Myra and Gale Fullerton, and any other candidates hoping to join the race will need to submit their paperwork ahead of the July 13 deadline.
The debate, scheduled for July 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will be moderated by Sal Falk, the Editor-at-large of The Lunenburg Barnacle.
To ensure a diverse range of topics and perspectives are covered, the organizers are actively seeking questions from the public. Individuals interested in submitting their questions can do so by emailing editor@thebarnacle.ca with the subject line “Debate Question.” This initiative allows the community to actively participate in the democratic process and have their concerns addressed by the candidates.
The event will offer two options for attendance. Interested individuals can choose to be present at the Lunenburg Fire Hall to experience the debate live, or they can join the event online through a live stream hosted on The Lunenburg Barnacle’s YouTube channel. For those unable to tune in during the live event, the livestream will be recorded for later viewing.
As the date draws closer, anticipation is building among the citizens of Lunenburg, who are eager to witness this engaging event that will contribute to the democratic discourse surrounding the upcoming elections. The Lunenburg Barnacle and the Town of Lunenburg are committed to providing an inclusive and transparent platform for all candidates, ensuring a fair and balanced election process.
