Queens District RCMP is currently investigating a serious three-vehicle collision that took place on Highway 103 in Port Mouton, Queens County, early this morning.
At approximately 4:20 a.m. on September 25, 2023, Queens District RCMP, in conjunction with local fire and Emergency Health Services (EHS), responded swiftly to reports of a collision involving a Dodge Ram, Ford Edge, and Chevrolet Silverado.
According to RCMP officers at the scene, initial findings suggest that the Dodge Ram was traveling westbound on Hwy. 103 when it overtook a Ford Edge, also traveling in the same direction. In a tragic turn of events, the Dodge Ram collided with an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado, causing further impact as the Edge subsequently collided with both vehicles.
The collision resulted in serious injuries to a passenger of the Chevrolet Silverado, a 40-year-old woman from Lunenburg County. She was swiftly transported to the hospital via LifeFlight for immediate medical attention. Meanwhile, the driver of the Silverado, a 46-year-old man from Lunenburg County, as well as the driver and passenger of the Ford Edge, both 68-year-olds from Colorado, suffered minor injuries and received on-site treatment from EHS personnel.
Authorities have taken action against the 21-year-old male driver of the Dodge Ram, who hails from Shelburne. He has been issued a Summary Offence Ticket for driving to the left of a solid double line, indicating a breach of traffic regulations.
In light of the severity of the incident, a collision reconstructionist was dispatched to the scene to gather crucial evidence. Queens District RCMP assures the public that the investigation is actively ongoing to determine the precise sequence of events leading to the collision.
Due to the extensive nature of the incident, Hwy. 103 remained closed for several hours to facilitate investigation and cleanup operations. However, as of the latest update, the highway has since reopened to traffic.
