Mahone Bay, NS – The anticipated community cycling event, Light Cycle, is set to return for its second year on the South Shore. Originating in Bridgewater last year, the event drew 40 participants of all ages, lighting up the streets with bike lights and festive twinkle lights powered by battery packs.
Taking place in the evening, Light Cycle draws inspiration from similar events in cities like Vancouver, Toronto, and Halifax. Beyond the joyous celebration, the event aims to promote nighttime cycling visibility, fostering a sense of community and fun.
This year, Light Cycle is shifting its gears to Mahone Bay. Riders will gather on Saturday, December 9, at the parking lot by the public washroom on Hwy 3, gearing up for a short ride around Mahone Bay. The meetup begins at 5:30 pm, with the ride rolling out at 6 pm. An after-party at Saltbox Brewing will feature prizes donated by local bike shops Sweet Ride Cycling, the Lunenburg Bike Shop, and Scotia Cycle.
Light Cycle injects a dose of luminosity into the prolonged, dark days of December, offering a lively community setting. It serves as a reminder that staying active during the fall and winter is not only possible but enjoyable.
