Nova Scotia Health’s mobile primary care clinic is scheduled to operate in Bridgewater at South Shore Community Health, 26 North St., Suite 102, on Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
This drop-in clinic will cater to non-urgent, low-acuity health issues and is not an emergency service. The team, including nurse practitioners and family physicians, will provide care on a first-come, first-served basis.
Patients are encouraged to bring their health card and a list of medications to facilitate the process. Upon arrival, individuals will be screened for acute viral respiratory infections, and if applicable, will be provided with an approximate appointment time.
It’s important to note that this clinic does not replace primary care providers (doctors or nurse practitioners). Individuals with a primary care provider are advised to contact their office first for same-day appointments.
The clinic can address concerns such as prescription refills or renewals (excluding controlled substances), minor respiratory symptoms, sore throat, earaches, fever, headache, rashes, minor gastrointestinal concerns (vomiting and diarrhea), cough, flu, or cold symptoms, urinary tract infections, and muscle pain.
Lab and diagnostic imaging requisitions will not be part of the clinic’s services.
This initiative is aimed at providing a resource for individuals who may not have access to their primary care provider or do not currently have one. For any uncertainties about where to seek care, individuals can refer to the provided list of concerns or contact Nova Scotia Health for guidance.
