Harbour House is putting on two free family events this week as part of National Family Violence Prevention Week.
On Tuesday, they will be hosting a free family bowling day at Pejo’s Bowling in Lunenburg from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Thursday they are hosting an open family skate at the Emera Centre in Liverpool from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Harbour House Executive Director Kelly Ann Hamshaw says they wanted to put on events specifically like these for a reason, “Things like this are what can help prevent family violence, getting out of the house having a good time and creating memories as a family,” Hamshaw said. “It’s important to us to be out involved in the community, so that people know we are here to help should they need it,”.
Hamshaw says the events are intended to be fun and while staff and volunteers will be present and happy to explain what Harbour House does and how they can help they want the focus to be on families having fun and enjoying themselves.
