Sport fishing season in Nova Scotia officially opened on April 1 and this year the government of Nova Scotia is promoting it’s recent enhancements geared towards making it more accessible.
In recent years, the government has been investing in bolstering accessible fishing sites and infrastructure. In most cases, they provide funding to local organizations who then build and maintain the accessible infrastructure.
There are currently 22 barrier-free sportfishing sites across the province, which include various supports such as seats and rails, flat fishing pads and accessible parking.

Provincial Fisheries Minister Kent Smith expressed pride in the recent initiatives and how they enable more people to partake in sportfishing, “Through barrier-free fishing sites, Nova Scotians with mobility issues or other disabilities have an opportunity to experience sportfishing with friends and family members,”.
