The Region of Queens has announced the Milton Pool will not reopen this summer after further damage was discovered following this winter.
The pool sustained damage during last Summers’ heavy rain, which prompted it’s closure for the season. Repair work scheduled to remedy the damage was scheduled to take place last fall, however, it was unable to be completed.
When staff checked on the pool this spring, they discovered it had sustained further damage over the winter. Repair work was estimated to cost between $100,000 and $150,000 and take at least 16 weeks to complete.
At the April 16 council meeting, it was determined that the Region of Queens would hold off on greenlighting the repairs, as they consider their options.
One of the largest considerations is that the municipality is currently in the process of building a new $7 million outdoor pool in Liverpool that is intended to serve the entire region.
