The 122-year-old Astor Theatre in Liverpool is planning to install an HVAC system, which was revealed at this week’s annual general meeting.
The Astor Theatre board announced plans to launch a capital fundraising campaign to finance the HVAC system and other upgrades needed at the historic property.
Currently, the only cooling equipment on site is overhead fans, which struggle to keep the facility comfortable during particularly hot days.
Some of the other projects being targeted include upgrading to more efficient LED lighting, insulating the roof and installing some new windows.
The projects are aiming to modernize the property which is currently owned by the Municipality. In the lead up the the capital campaign the Astor Theatre Board is also preparing to sign a new 10-year lease for the property which they feel will bolster their ability to fundraise.
They also intend to apply for federal and provincial grants to help cover costs.
Details on the capital fundraising campaign are expected to be released later this year.
