Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell has announced he will seek reelection during the fall municipal elections.
In a post on his social media, Mitchell said that after a discussion with his family, in which they gave their blessing, he determined he would run for his third term as mayor.
In previous interviews with CKBW, Mitchell has always emphasized that being the mayor requires a lot of time and unconventional work hours, and he would be unwilling to continue in the role without the support of his family.
In his post, Mitchell also expresses excitement about the ongoing developments in Bridgewater, and his desire to help the town as it navigates them.
“We are reducing energy poverty in Bridgewater through our Energize Bridgewater plan.” Mitchell wrote. “The Exit 12A interchange and the interest from companies around the world to set down roots in our town presents an exciting opportunity for our entire region.”
As of now, Mitchell is the only candidate who has announced his intention to seek the mayoral seat.
Nominations for all municipal elections must be submitted no later than September 10, with the election slated for October 19.
