Nova Scotia Power has taken over as the title sponsor for Halifax’s 29th annual Holiday Parade of Lights, ensuring the event’s return this December. The sponsorship change, announced Tuesday by the Holiday Parade of Lights Society, follows the recent sale of Saltwire Network Inc. to Toronto-based Postmedia, which had previously sponsored the event.
A spokesperson for Nova Scotia Power said the company is “thrilled” to step in and keep the tradition alive, anticipating large crowds to celebrate the holiday season in downtown Halifax.
This year’s parade is set for Sunday, Dec. 8, starting at 5 p.m. local time at the Cogswell Street roundabout. The route will travel along Ahern Avenue, Bell Road, South Park Street, and Spring Garden Road before ending on Barrington Street at George Street.
As in previous years, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, toys, or cash donations for local charitable drives.
Organizers are expecting thousands of spectators, with community groups, local businesses, and corporations set to participate in the festivities.
