It’s been four long years since Yarmouth’s Zack Lefave went missing.
He was last seen walking on Hwy 334 in Plymouth just after midnight on New Year’s Day, 2021.
His cousin Kim Morton tells our newsroom it has been an incredibly difficult time for the family.
“It’s just something you never want to go through. We’ve been investigating everything we hear, there’s still lots of stories and rumors going around, it’s definitely still being talked about. But it’s been hell,” said Morton.
According to RCMP, Lefave was at a New Year’s Eve gathering with friends earlier in the night.
Investigators have collaborated with many partners to try and find Lefave, including ground search and rescue, an RCMP cadaver dog from British Columbia, forensic identification units and police units from all over southwestern Nova Scotia.
Investigators have spoken with over 200 people following up on tips.
Morton says recently, people have been doing random acts of kindness in the community to honour Lefave.
She remembers her cousin as an average guy, who loved to hang out with his friends.

She adds, they just want to know what happened to the 20-year-old and bring him home.
“To the people who do know something, please come forward. It’s been four years. It’s definitely time to let our family have some peace.”
The case remains with the Major Crimes Unit with a $150,000 reward for any information leading to a resolution.
