The Liverpool Curling Club is gearing up to host the Nova Scotia Mixed Doubles Curling Provincial Championships, which will see eight teams competing for a chance to represent the province at the 2025 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Summerside.
The event kicks off on Thursday, January 30, with games starting at 12:30 p.m. and continuing with three draws daily through Saturday. The championship final is set for Sunday, February 2, at 10 a.m.
Admission is free for all matches, though donations to support the curling club are encouraged. Spectators can expect not only high-level competition but also food, beverages, and a welcoming community atmosphere.
Local curlers Megan Trimm and Matt Sheffield, who coach the club’s junior curling program, will represent Liverpool among the competing teams. Their participation is expected to draw significant local support.
Defending provincial champions Luke Saunders and Marlee Powers, coached by curling legend and two-time world champion Colleen Jones, are also in the mix.
Organizers are hopeful that the success of recent mixed doubles events in Liverpool will inspire more community members to attend. Mixed doubles curling features fast-paced action and unique strategies, with only two players per team.
