Lunenburg’s mayor says they’re open for business.
The town has been criticized in the past as being difficult for business owners to deal with.
The issue came to the front again last week when a local business took to social media to complain of excessive delays getting their building permits.
Mayor Rachel Bailey says any time a concern is raised the town will work to resolve it.
“For every incident that you hear about where there is an issue, there are many other people who have had positive experiences, and who have had a good working relationship and have had no issues.”
Bailey says since the concern was brought to their attention the town has been working with the owner to resolve the issue.
“Every circumstance is unique. Every new development or every business idea comes with its own set of complications, perhaps.”
Around 200 building permits were issued last year and Bailey says the majority of those went off without a hitch.
She says it’s unfortunate the exceptional situations seem to gather the most attention.
