The warden of Chester says he’s excited to see Junior ‘C’ hockey coming back to the municipality.
Games will be played out of the Eleanor Pew Morris Memorial Arena.
Allen Webber says the team will be able to fill valuable seats in the rink.
“The numbers are down at the rink for minor hockey and so it’s struggling a bit,” says Webber.
“This will help support the rink and anything that supports the rink, helps support the community.”
He says the addition of Junior ‘C’ hockey will be good for the local economy.
“This is one of those things that will certainly help contribute to building community spirit and bringing people together.”
Webber says the hockey team will provide entertainment during winter when the area has fewer activities than summer.
The team has submitted a $10,000 financial request to the Municipality of Chester.
Webber says it has not come before council yet and expects it will be part of budget deliberations for the 2019-20 fiscal year.
