Lunenburg County Multi-sport is returning for another season in January.
The multi-activity kids program is setting up for its third season, and will introduce kids to eleven sports including basketball, biking, boxing and kids cross fit among others.
Diana Johnson, recreation coordinator for the town, says the program aims to introduce kids to as many sports as possible to not only get them active, but also allow them to explore what sport they enjoy the most.
“There are children out there that maybe don’t think they’re interested in sports like boxing, but maybe have never tried it,” she said.
“Once they get there and start growing a knowledge and understanding of the sport, they may take it on as something they surprisingly look forward to doing.”
The program is structured into sections, with a few days being spent on each sport. Johnson says this will allow kids to see what fits them and what doesn’t.
“They get about six hours with each sport, which we’ve determined in the last few years is enough time to gain some knowledge and ability in each,” she said.
“From there, they can determine if its something they like and may want to proceed with in the future.”
Registration runs from now until October 11, and is open to any kid in Grades two or three. The season will run from January until June 2020.
