Over the past few months, the Bridgewater Fire Department has been building a new two purpose facility.
It will primarily serve as a storage area, it’s secondary purpose will be as a training area for the use of breathing apparatus.
Fire Chief Mike Nauss says it should help them help assist with emergency situations more quickly.
“Right now we have to keep a lot of the specialized equipment for things like chemical spills in a room in our basement that’s not the easiest to access. Now we will be able to store it in our new facility making it easier to get to.”
Contractors have done a significant portion of the work but Nauss says that many volunteer firefighters have also helped with the construction.
The project was funded by the Town of Bridgewater’s capital budget, the estimated cost is $30,000.
Structural construction is all virtually complete, things like siding and other finishing touches are still required but the facility is expected to be open by early 2020
