More items have been announced to the province’s flavoured vaping juice ban.
Flavoured cannabis vaping products will also be banned for sale within the province come April 1, 2020.
Only a day after the initial ban, Finance and Treasury board minister Karen Casey announced they had extended the ban to cannabis products, saying “We need to do everything we can to make sure these products do not appeal to younger Nova Scotians.”
In a release, the government says regulations will prohibit the sale of cannabis vaping products that have a scent or flavour other than cannabis, and will also not allow synthetic flavouring or packaging mentioning flavouring of any kind.
This announcement follows the results of a Smoke-Free Nova Scotia survey, which showed 95 per cent of young people in Nova Scotia who vape e-cigarettes said they prefer flavoured juices.
It also found over 48 per cent said they would quit if flavours were banned.
Cannabis edibles, extracts and topicals are currently legal in Canada, and are expected to hit shelves later this month with a small supply of products.
