Robert “Bob” Lowe passed away at the South Shore Regional Hospital on Sunday morning.
Lowe has a lengthy list of achievements and accolades he attained throughout his life.
Hundreds of families have lived in homes that were built by Lowe, along with his wife Greta they created the Victoria Acres housing development in Lunenburg County. Also at the young age of 19 Lowe led the building project of the Branch LaHave Community Hall.
He spent the majority of his career working for Acadia Broadcasting (the parent company of CKBW and Country 100.7). Lowe would go on to be one of the three owners of CKBW. He oversaw a long period of excellence in radio broadcasting that served members of the community in Lunenburg, Queens, and Shelburne counties.
During his time with CKBW, he was appointed to the Bridgewater Development Commission. He played a key role in developing relations with the Michelin Tire Manufacturing Company, who now employ hundreds of people locally.
Outside of his professional life, Lowe spent countless hours with various charity organizations. He served five years as President of the Bridgewater Board of Trade and Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of Directors of Lunenburg County VON, Area Representative for the IWK, Director of South Shore Tourist Association, Board Member of Tourism Nova Scotia, Committee Chairman of Canadian Advertising Sales Club Nova Scotia, and Volunteer Member of the Brookside Cemetery Commission. In 1990 Bob received the Provincial Volunteer of the Year Award.
Lowe is survived by his wife Greta, they were together for 67 years.
A funeral service for Robert Lowe is being held at the Bridgewater United Church on Jan. 4th, 2020.
